Busing

Welcome to the Newfoundland and Labrador School Busing website! Please click one of the links above to be directed to a listing of all the relevant information for your school busing needs.

School busing is provided free-of-charge for students who live greater than 1.6 kilometres from their neighbourhood school. When you register your child for school, you should speak with the school Principal to determine eligibility.

Students attending a school other than their neighbourhood school, such as students in French Immersion, do not qualify for school busing.
Busing is also available for students with special needs. While the Department of Education expects these students to attend their neighbourhood school, this may not be possible if that school is not accessible for the individual student’s needs. An application for special needs busing must be filled out, along with appropriate documentation, then forwarded by the school to the department for approval.

Under certain circumstances, busing can be made available to children whose parents have special needs and reside within 1.6 kilometres from their school. For example, the child of a single parent with a physical impairment may qualify. Applications are similar for special needs busing approval. This service is only available for students in K-6.
