Skilled Trades

The Futures in Skilled Trades and Technology Program is designed to be a revitalization and replacement of the industrial arts program in Newfoundland and Labrador schools. The program pilot began in 2006 and involves the purchase of tools, machinery, equipment and resources to support a series of courses in specific skilled trades' areas. These resources are accompanied by professional development for teachers and curriculum development funds to allow for a suite of courses in this area. Students will have access to courses dealing with design and fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plastering, masonry, small engines and alternative energy once the program is fully implemented.
